2014 Lok sabha Elections Rahul Gandhi’s role information has been provided here. For now, the Congress stopped short of naming Rahul the candidate for the country’s top job, perhaps out of consideration for its sitting octogenarian PM Manmohan Singh. “What role Rahul would assume for the 2014 elections would be decided later,” general secretary Janardan Dwivedi, who announced the decision by the Congress Working Committee, told reporters.
RJD President Lalu Prasad on Saturday supported giving a bigger role to Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. “This will be a good thing (giving a bigger role to Rahul in 2014 general polls),” Prasad said.
A strong demand for stern resolution against Pakistan and an early decision on Telangana were also made during the discussions which also saw Rahul advocating on-line membership facilities at block level and ruing that party workers at district and block levels are not getting adequate attention.
It also became clear that Rahul Gandhi who will lead the poll campaign is likely to be the nominee of the Congress for the PM’s post. It is noteworthy that at the ‘Chintan Shibir’ where Sonia and other leaders were holding forth on the achievements of the party, Congress leaders from Kerala staged a loud protest asking for the roll back of the move for a hike in diesel price.
